Essence of Chi was born in South London in February 2004, and since its beginning became one of the fastest growing Drum & Bass promotions of the early 2000s. They were renowned for throwing parties that combine all angles of Drum & Bass from deep to dance-floor with an electric atmosphere, whilst paying special attention to sound, light, space, and of course the all-important quality DJ and MC line up fused together to achieve the perfect balance.

From humble beginnings in Brixton's Plan B, EOC progressed to bigger & more challenging ventures as time went by...from packing out their Birthday parties at the Scala & Hidden, to attracting queues round the block for their events at the infamous and now defunct Herbal in Shoreditch as well as Gramaphone where they resided during 2010 until its closure in 2011.

They have held tour parties around the UK in places such as Leeds, Oxford, Brighton, Guildford and Portsmouth, and hosted Arenas at some of London's most prestigious drum n bass events, including Renegade Hardware v Valve during Carnival, the Baby Box and Bar at the Ministry of Sound for their in house d&b nights Fuse and Switch, Innovation in the Sun alongside Rotation, and of course the legendary Moondance where they have proudly hosted the EOC Arena 10 times in a row since 2005. They were also nominated twice for Best Small Club Night in the Drum n Bass Awards in 2008 and 2009.

One of their proudest achievements was a charity event held in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support in October 2008 , which was also a huge farewell party for original Essence of Chi resident MC & Co-founder LowQui who temporarily relocated to Australia. The event, held at EOC's birthplace Plan B included the likes of Goldie, Storm, Doc Scott, Skream + various other EOC residents and friends and was a huge success, attracting ravers from as far away as Dubai and Germany to wish LowQui "Bon Voyage".

After a six year hiatus from the scene, EOC are 'over the moon' to be back working alongside Moondance having successfully hosted the Drum & Bass stage alongside the legendary Son of Dance stage at the 2017 Moondance Festival, as well a welcome return to the Scala for Love Rave on New Year's Eve.
